Semiahmoo U13 C Wraps Up Provincials on a High Note
PORT COQUITLAM, BC – The Semiahmoo U13 C boys wrapped up their 2025 BCLA Provincial Championship (July 3-6) with a solid 2–2 record, showing grit, growth, and flashes of promise under head coach Asahel Beaudet.
The tournament opened with a tough 6–2 loss to host Port Moody, who came out flying while Semiahmoo struggled to find their footing. But the group bounced back quickly Thursday night, earning a confident 7–4 win over Kamloops, leading from start to finish and controlling the game’s tempo.
On Friday, Semiahmoo ran into a powerhouse in Quesnel, falling 9–4 in a highly physical matchup that saw two players receive offsetting game misconducts in the final minutes—an unprecedented moment for the team this season.
With medal hopes dashed heading into their final game, Semiahmoo regrouped and ended on a high note, defeating Shuswap 9–4 in a strong all-around performance.
“We didn’t quite reach our goal of playing for a medal, but the boys learned a lot and had fun,” said Beaudet. “For many of them, it was their first time at an event like this, and they handled it well.”
With several players new to the game of lacrosse—many with just one or two years’ experience—the Provincials were a valuable eye-opener. Encouragingly, as many as 6–10 players from the 16-man roster are planning to play field lacrosse in the fall.
“They’ve caught the lacrosse bug,” Beaudet added. “That’s a win in itself.”
