Hello Semiahmoo Rock families,

The 2022 box lacrosse season has come to a close. I think it’s fair to say that all of us were very happy to have a “normal” season, our first full season since the pandemic. For me personally, it was fun to go up to Centennial Arena and watch the kids (and parents) competing, improving their box lacrosse skills, interacting with friends and having so much fun.

Unfortunately this season, around the league, we witnessed an unprecedented number of issues with referee abuse and parental misconduct. I’m very happy to say that Semiahmoo coaches, players and parents were NOT involved in any of these incidents. Thank you for respecting your great game.

Thank you to all the coaches, managers and volunteers that help make Semiahmoo Minor Lacrosse such a great experience. Your continued efforts go above and beyond. We recognize that your volunteer actions are always a labour of love and we sincerely appreciate your efforts and dedication to making our community a better place.

As you know, I agreed to step up as president when our former president, Randy Ellis tragically passed away almost 3 years ago. I was then and I am still passionate about Semiahmoo lacrosse. My term as president will be coming to an end in November. I will not be running for re-election. I have found my time spent as president to be rewarding in so many ways, however, the time has come for someone else to take the baton and help lead the association forward. I am certainly willing to help the transition of a new president. We have an excellent group of people on the executive team, and loads of terrific volunteers in every age group. Please let me know if you have interest in taking on the role of president, this is a role we must fill.

I know everyone is looking forward to next season.  As in past years, we plan to have indoor training sessions in the gyms starting in November – Tuesday evenings at 6pm at South Meridian Elementary. These events are an excellent way for newcomers to be introduced to our great sport of box lacrosse, so please remember to suggest to your friends to come out and get involved!  We will keep you posted when we finalize the gym time. In the meantime, keep practicing those stick skills!!!!!
