Happy New Year to everyone in the Semiahmoo Rock Family,
My name is Mark Betts and I am the new President of Semiahmoo Minor Lacrosse. After a few years’ absence from the association, I was encouraged to return and lead our executive team and help guide the club moving forward. This is an opportunity I am very excited to accept.
As a brief personal introduction, I have been involved in the sport of lacrosse for most of my life. I played lacrosse as a child all the way to the end of Junior. In more recent years, I started coaching female lacrosse with Semiahmoo back in 2010 and over the years our teams won gold and silver medals at Provincials. I have also coached with Team BC and was a part of two Silver Medal teams and we eventually won a GOLD medal at 2019 Nationals. I have previously volunteered for 6 years with the Semiahmoo executive team as our equipment manager.
As we move toward the upcoming season, I report that we have already met as an executive team and we all agree that our number one goal is to grow our game! We encourage new players to come out and enjoy the game we all love. I feel that the best way to do so is to ensure all coaches and team volunteers have the necessary resources and knowledge of the game to help put our players in the best position to be successful. We seek to build a safe, inclusive and FUN atmosphere with a heavy focus on fun! When this year’s experience comes to a close, we’ll know of our success when our players say they can’t wait for next season.
Today, I report that indoor drop-in sessions are underway and we’re excited to announce that Player Registration for the 2023 Season is now open! I encourage everyone to register today and take advantage of the Early Bird special. Make sure to encourage all your siblings and friends to join in and experience Rock Lacrosse!
I will be around the box and arena all Spring/Summer and look forward to meeting many of you. Go Rock!
