Midget Boys Take Home Provincial Silver Medal
Langley Event Centre (Langley, BC) — Congratulations to our Midget Boys team for bringing home the silver medal from the 2017 BC Midget Box Lacrosse Provincial Championships.
The highly skilled and competitive Midget team capped off a terrific season, posting a strong showing at the BC Provincial Tournament. Playing their familiar brand of run-and-gun lacrosse, Semiahmoo went 2-1 in pool play; defeating North Okanagan 13-5 and Coquitlam Adanacs 8-4. Semi’s sole loss in the opening round came in a tight match, 7-6, to a strong Peninsula Warriors team from Vancouver Island.
A spirited cross-over semi-final game saw Semiahmoo beat the undefeated Burnaby Lakers 7-5; advancing our boys to the gold medal game where they would once again face-off against Peninsula. Peninsula Warriors would eventually defeat Semiahmoo, 9-3 to claim the Provincial title. Semiahmoo’s Butch La Roue had 2 goals and 1 assist.
Head Coach Pat La Roue commented–“We controlled play and had terrific ball possession all game. We outnumbered Peninsula in scoring chances but simply could not solve their awesome goaltending. Our boys fought hard. It was a good game, we never gave up”.
Well done boys! You have made Semiahmoo Lacrosse proud!
